Dr. Gabe Petrocelli

   Gabe Petrocelli graduated with a B.A. in 1968 from the Hartt Conservatory of the University of Hartford where he majored in Music Composition and Education. He moved to California the following year and taught music in the Pomona Unified School District. He earned his M.A. in Music Composition in 1974 from California State University, Los Angeles while studying composition with Byuong Yong Kim and conducting with Vito Susca.

    In 1981 Dr. Petrocelli was appointed instrumental music director at Alta Loma High School. He also held adjunct music positions at Chaffey College, California State University, San Bernardino, and the University of La Verne. In 1989 he was appointed to the administrative level in the Chaffey District and has served as an assistant principal and principal for the past seventeen years. In 1992, Dr. Petrocelli earned his doctoral degree in Educational Administration from the University of La Verne.

    As a musical director, Dr. Petrocelli’s ensembles have achieved the highest level of recognition. His groups are acknowledged for their musicianship and pureness of sound.  Over the years, he has written numerous compositions for chorus, band and orchestra as well as composing music for a number of trailers for NBC-TV and publishing several jazz band arrangements with Hanson Publications. This summer, his “St. Mark’s Passion” for chorus, soloists and organ was premiered at the Assisi Music Festival in Assisi, Italy.
