   The Inland Valley String Orchestra of the Western Society of Chamber Music is a community orchestra of high caliber that is made up of members from around the San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties.

    Part of the WSCM mission is to "to use music as a vehicle for uniting persons of varying ages and of different ethnic, educational, and financial backgrounds." The
Inland Valley String Orchestra is open to any player who meets the high performance criteria, regardless of age. This allows for professionals, amateurs, students, retirees, and musicians of every age between to perform together and learn from one another.

    Th
e Inland Valley String Orchestra is made up of twelve violins, four violas, four cellos, and two basses. The intimate size allows Maestro Petrocelli to work closely with each musician and to acheive a polished performance.  Members will also have an opportunity to work with excellent guest artist soloists.

    This orchestra is dedicated to performing the standard string orchestra literature, as well as to promoting music of our time. Every concert will feature a world premier performance. Members have the opportunity to keep alive the musical treasures of the past while also writing the musical history that will be studied by the next generation.

    This orchestra presents two concerts each year, and has five to six Wednesday evening rehearsals prior to each concert. Rehearsals and concerts take place at Hill Auditorium, 211 West Fifth St., Ontario, CA 91762.

    An informal audition for Maestro Petrocelli is required, unless a reputation as a professional musicians has been established.

As a musical director, Dr. Petrocelli’s ensembles have achieved the highest level of recognition. His groups are acknowledged for their musicianship and pureness of sound.  Over the years, he has written numerous compositions for chorus, band and orchestra as well as composing music for a number of trailers for NBC-TV and publishing several jazz band arrangements with Hanson Publications. This summer, his “St. Mark’s Passion” for chorus, soloists and organ was premiered at the Assisi Music Festival in Assisi, Italy.
