Dr. Andrew Crane

  Tenor Andrew Crane currently serves as Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at California State University, San Bernardino.  He received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2005 from Michigan State University, where he studied with Richard Fracker.  While in Michigan, Dr. Crane served on the vocal faculty at the University of Michigan-Flint.  He appeared as a soloist with the Grand Rapids Bach Festival, Arbor Consort, Steiner Chorale, and the MSU Choral Union and Symphony.  He also performed the tenor solos in the U.S. premiere of Ryan Cayabyab's Misa 2000 with the Calvin Oratorio Society and Orchestra.  Crane has appeared as a soloist in such works as Carmina Burana, Messiah, Bach Magnificat, Bruckner Te Deum, Haydn Lord Nelson Mass, and many others.  He also was tenor soloist in the premiere of Robert Millett’s Passage to Glory with the Utah Valley Symphony and Wasatch Chorale. 

   Since moving to California, Dr. Crane has performed Vaughan Williams’ On Wenlock Edge with the Inland Empire Chamber Players.  He has also appeared with the Western Society of Chamber Music and the Pass Chorale, where he sang solo tenor in Mozart’s C Minor Mass.  He frequently performs in recital at California State University, San Bernardino, where he most recently gave the world premiere performance of excerpts from Manuel Garcia’s opera El Gitano por Amor. 

   This last June, Crane was a winner in the senior division of the Redlands Bowl Young Artists Auditions, a prestigious vocal competition in Southern California.  He resides in Victorville, California, with his wife and four children.
