Chamber Music at the Hill, part of the Western Society of Chamber Music, hosts the Scholarship Ensemble Program and the Guest Artist Program.
Each concert begins with a performance by the students selected for the educational component of the WSCM- the Scholarship Ensemble Program. This performance is the conclusion of a month of coaching sessions with one of the WSCM faculty members. The second half of each concert features professional ensembles that model for the students and provide music of the highest artistic caliber for the community. They visit through the WSCM Guest Artist Program. Very young musicians from the community often join us ten minutes before the start of each concert to play as part of the Pre-Concert Program. The Merton E. Hill Auditorium in Ontario, California, is the venue and namesake of this series. It is an ideal venue for chamber music, with 600 seats and a balcony. There is a comfortably-sized stage, as well as a large performance area on the ground level. The auditorium houses a grand piano, which is played at most concerts. |
